Eega Business Down By 50%

Rajamouli-directed film Eega was released in limited number of screens in USA due to unavailablity of cinema halls and the movie had single show on several screens in the openingweek. So the makers increased the number of shows onseveral screens and also released it in 20 more cinema halls. They expected it to fetch even better collection than the last Friday.
But to their disappointment, Eega has failed to meet theircalculations in the country on the second Friday. Sudeep-Samantha starrer movie has collected Rs 39 lakhs ($ 70,744) at the USA Box Office on the second Friday. Its business has fallen down by more than 50%. With this, the film has grossed a total of Rs 4.02 crores ($ 730,457) in nine days of its release in the country.
Whereas Billa 2 and Cocktail, which hit the screens in USA this Friday, have opened to an earth shattering response on the first day of their release in the country
Both the movies have surely affected the collection of Eega on their opening day in the country

Eega USA screen number to be raised

Director SS Rajamouli’s latest Telugu movie Eega, which was released on July 5 in the USA, has received an overwhelming response at the collection centres in the country. The film has even beaten the Bollywood film Bol Bachchan there. But the makers of the film do not seem to be satisfied with it. They have decided to increase the number of screens in the country.

Eega has reportedly been released on 31 screens, while its Tamil version Naan Ee hit 8 screens in the USA. On many screens, the movie has only one show a day. According to reports, this disappointed the producer of Eega, who wanted to release it on more number of screens, but could not do so due to unavailability of cinema halls.

Reports suggest that Eega was not released in a few potential stations like Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Miami, Kansas City, Denver, etc., on Tuesday, 10 July. It was due to The Amazing Spider Man and The Avengers, which have occupied most of the screens as it was a long weekend (US Independence Day). Moreover, Eega has only one show a day in places like Detroit, where a big Telugu cinema will have at least 3 shows a day.

Eega has collected Rs 3.64 crores at the USA Box Office in the first weekend. The per screen average collection of Eega is not only higher than any other big Telugu, Tamil and Bollywood film, but also other Hollywood films. Reports reveal that Eega’s screen average (17,000) is much higher than that of The Amazing Spider Man, Dabangg (12,664) and Dookudu (12,444) in the first weekend.

However, Eega producers have now planned to release it in 20 more centers in USA on 13 July. Another good news is that they will also increase the number of shows in several business centers like Detroit.

It is expected to continue its rocking collection in the USA. But this Friday, another big Bollywood film Coctail is hitting the screens. Now, it should be seen whether Eega will beat this film also at the USA Box Office

'Eega' to be released in 3D in Hindi

Bilingual animation film "Eega", claimed to be southern cinema's most technologically superior movie, will be dubbed in Hindi, which will be converted into 3D version, says producer Suresh Babu.

The socio-fantasy film, releasing worldwide in Tamil and Telugu July 6 with 1,200 prints, is written and directed by S.S.Rajamouli.

Conversion technology is being used to make the 3D version of the movie, said the filmmakers at a press meet here.

Producer Suresh Babu said that movie has cost between Rs.28 crore to Rs.30 crore.

"We are sure to release the 3D version of 'Eega' in compatible theatres in north and Maharashtra. We are releasing the Telugu version 'Eega' and Tamil version 'Naan Ee' in Mumbai and other important centres in north," said Rajamouli.

The Hindi version is expected to come out at the end of the year and the director is confident of "a greater response to the 3D version in Hindi when it is released".

In the film, a house fly plays the protagonist's role, while Kannada actor Sudeep plays the antagonist, who kills a young man who falls for the same girl as him.

Later, the dead man takes the life of a house fly to torment the antagonist.
