Konidala Ram Charan Teja, also known as Cherry, was born on 27th March 1985 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. His parents are well known actor Chiranjeevi and Surekha..He has two sisters, Sushmita and Srija. His grandfather is veteran comedian Allu Ramlingaih and his uncles are actors Nagendra Babu and Pawan Kalyan. The actor Allu Arjun is his cousin.
Charan is also the nephew of producer Allu Aravind and actor Pawan Kalyan, and cousin to fellow actor Allu Arjun. Ram Charan is also fluent in Tamil and is an accomplished equestrian. His height 5ft 9in.

Ram Charan Teja made his First film debut in 2007 in Chirutha, which was directed by Purijagannadh. The movie showed a good performance at the box office.. His second film, Magadheera (2009), directed by S. S. Rajamouli's, emerged a critical as well as commercial success, becoming the highest-grossing Telugu film till date.. Magadheera ran successfully for 600 days in a Kurnool theater, which is all time industry record. The movie is dubbed into Tamil and titled as Maaveeran and ready to hit screen on April 2011 in Tamil Nadu. And also in Malayalam as Dheera and ready to hit screen on may 6th 2011.. His third film in telugu was Bhaskar’s Orange, released on November 26, 2010. The film stars Genelia D'Souza as the lead actress.
After Orange, Ram Charan Teja has signed a movie under the direction of Bharani. This movie was tilted as Merupu. Kajal Agarwal was selected for female lead role. But the project was canceled after shooting half of the movie and will be soon released on dec 14th 2011.
